Photoshop 22.3.1 freezing regularly

This latest version of photoshop is freezing all the time it doesnt seem to matter what tool I am using. The image panel becomes unusable, whatever tool I am using defalts back to the pointer, and my only option is to save and restart photoshop.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and this second time its frozen instantly on opening a file before I've even started.

Working in this version is pretty much impossible, this has only happened in this latest version.

What is the solution for this? I am working on a 2020 Imac (OS 11.2.3)
