Latest update today (25.7) claims to still be compatible with macOS 11.7.1 but not for me. Tried unistall/reinstall with no luck. Going back to 25.6 works fine.
I was also using the beta, but can't remember the last version I opened. Regardles, the beta no longer works either, same error message that is attached.
Is this my issue or did 25.7 outgrow macOS Big Sur?
Hi there. Based on the error message I got and that i found on this thread, it appears that Photoshop 25.7 was compiled with a target macOS version of 12.0, which is macOS Monterey. This discrepancy between the target macOS version and the actual macOS version we're using (Big Sur) could be the root cause of the problem.
It's understandable that this situation has caused confusion, especially considering that Adobe claimed compatibility with macOS 11.7.1 in the update notes for Photoshop 25.7. However, it seems that there might have been a mistake or oversight in the compilation process, leading to the application being incompatible with macOS Big Sur.
In terms of resolution, reverting back to Photoshop 25.6 seems to have provided a temporary workaround. In the meantime, it would be beneficial to report this issue to Adobe's support team or through their official channels so they can investigate and address it promptly.
It's indeed unusual for such breaking changes to occur without a corresponding version number change in accordance with semantic versioning principles. This suggests that it's likely a mistake rather than an intentional decision.
Hopefully, Adobe will rectify this issue in an upcoming update to ensure compatibility with macOS Big Sur users like us 😀

I'm running Mac OS 12.7.4 (Monterey). 2023 version of Photoshop was working fine. Then I made the mistake of updating to 2024. This version repeatedly crashes on startup despite removal of preferences and every other "fix" out there. Uninstalled and attempted to install a 2023 version of Photoshop and none of those work either, now. Anyone else have this problem?
Hi, here the same thing happens to me on two different computers with mac os 11.7 and photoshop 25.7. After rolling back to 25.6 it works perfectly again. This is the error message, it says ps was compiled for mac os 12.
Hello, this morning I updated Photoshop to the latest version 25.7, but after the application update cannot be launched. what should i do to solve this. Thanx
When Photoshop outgrew Catalina (MacOS 10.15.7), the Creative Cloud Desktop app would not even install it, and would give the need more money, I mean need to upgrade message. So unlikely they would disqualify Big Sur without saying so. Also I'm sure all Big Sur owners would have the same problem.
I did find a thread on here about Ps 25.7 beta not working for some when it was released, but it looks like it may have been related to having NIK collection 6 installed.
I'm on 11.7.10 and Adobe claims this runs on Big Sur (CC app and sys req page), but it won't run.
Same here. CC app prompted me to update, so I did. System Requirements web page still indicates Big Sur compatibility. I'm on 11.7.10. App won't launch.

You have an M1 mini, it can run the latest Sonoma OS and the next release this fall, and likely be supported for 4-5 more years. There is zero reason to stay with Big Sur.
If it was a personal computer, you would be correct, but as this is reliant on other software and restrictions at work we are stuck on Big Sure for now
Which is why I ask what software? And "restrictions at work" is nonsense, there is typically no business reason to run unsupported, incompatible, and out-of-date software on a business device and surely your IT people understand that.
System requirements page was the first thing I checked. Posted here just to vent and to see if anyone else was having the same issues. The Mac can be updated, but for now we are stuck at 11.7.1 due to other software and work requirements.
I was wondering if maybe it is something else about this base model M1 Mac Mini as anything past 25.6, including Beta 25.7-8-9, gives me the same results.
Big Sur is no longer supported or getting security updates from Apple. I assume that Adobe will be dropping support soon, especially since an M1 can be upgraded.
