Does anyone know when Adobe are planning to release Photoshop as a Service API?
I believe it is in Pre-release phase at the moment. Does anyone know whether one can still get access to the API?
I've developed a .jsx file that I have running on a .psd. I would like the image in the embedded smart object in the.psd to be changeable via a webform. I believe that the Photoshop as a Service API will be useful in that regard.
I thought that I might be able to run Photoshop on a webserver for this particular use case but I haven't got this running yet and now I'm seeing that this may breach the terms and conditions.
Please advise!
Thanks in advance!!
Hi,
Thanks for your interest in the Ps APIs. The pre-release program is available for you to try out the APIs. Please visit Adobe Prerelease
to request access. We do support embedded smart object replacement, so you should be quickly able to get started on this and test out your case.

Without any inside information: it doesn't bode well that it is still in beta after all this time. I think we can expect that at best, it may keep running until it breaks, but more likely Adobe will close it down. There will have been endless meetings about the monetisation of the service, and how to make it work; pricing is almost certainly the key issue holding it back. It will be very expensive to run.

However, there are some indications that Adobe is working on this type of API and it may be in the pre-release phase.
As for accessing the API, it's unclear whether or not it's currently possible to get access. You may want to reach out to Adobe directly to inquire about access.
Regarding your use case, running Photoshop on a webserver may indeed breach the terms and conditions of Adobe's licensing agreement. It's best to consult with Adobe's terms and conditions or seek legal advice before proceeding with this approach.
Alternatively, you may want to explore other options for changing the image in the embedded smart object via a web form, such as using a different image editing tool or building your own custom solution...

Jane-e, that's an entirely different product. This thread is talking about a web service which does some of the things Photoshop can do, without being visible or installed.

That's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying.
I foud this npm module. Is this aio-lib-photoshop-api a different thing? if so, can it still do the same jobs like replacing/modifying smart objects? Can this be used for commerical purposes?
Thanks!!

Hi Louise,
You are correct that it violates the terms and conditions to run PS from a server.
