Question

Photoshop Brushes Disappear

I am on Photoshop CC 20.13-6, Twice in the past 6 weeks I have opened Photoshop to find that all of my custom and imported brushes have disappeared.

I was able to to get them all back except the ones I created myself by copying and pasting brushes.psp from Photoshop cc 2018 and pasting it in 2019.

But I have to recreate the ones I made myself.

Why is this happening?! how do I stop it from happening?

You need to save your custom brushes as abr-files and ideally also back them up.

The abr-files in the proper Brushes Folder (in the user acount Preferences) will be available in the Brushes Panel’s pop-up menu, so even if they don’t appear at opening Photoshop they can be restored easily.

But aside from such basic workflow issues the issue seems fairly common these days:

    Hi Pam,

Sorry to hear about the brushes disappearing, let's make it right.

Could you please have a look at this article and let us know if it helps: Migrate presets, actions, and settings
