Photoshop can not open my file due to a program error

Community Beginner ,
Jul 10, 2020 Jul 10, 2020

I created a logo for my brand and probably an hour and a half after creating the file, I was given an error message "Can not open "....." due to a program error." I am on the latest version of photoshop and MacOS High Sierra. I can open the file in illustrator but i can't manipulate the layers. It just comes up as a background layer, but the full image of the file is there.

If you can offer any assistance i would greatly appreciate it.

Hello, this issue should be cured by updating to Ps 22.1.1, as the "program error" is listed as corrected in the what's new document.

If the update does not show on your CC app, restart it and/or go to help/check for updates.

How much HD/Swap drive space do you have?

I have roughly over 600GB of space. I solved this issue by reverting back to a previous version of photoshop. It leaves me to believe that there is a bug in the latest version of photoshop.

It may just be as simple as a bad install. When you say you have over 600 GB of space - how much is your swap drive allocation for Photoshop and is it on the same HD as the application?

I am having the same issue. I cannot create a new file, open original files or even close PSD without opening task manager. Checking on the recent updates for InDesign and other CS programs now.

I also am unable to open or otherwise work on/manipulate any files in Photo Shop, due to "program error" messages. I uninstalled the program and re-installed the program twice. Not sure how I can get back to an older version on my laptop. Will be looking around for more info./other options. "A problem with the newest version" does not solve my problem. Surely Adobe can do better than this.

Tenho instaladas as versões 22.1 e 21.2.4. As duas estão com o mesmo problema (utilizo um Mac).

Did you find a solution? I just started having this problem, but it was working fine before.

You have already tried to convert the file from 8 bits to 16 bits. I did that and I didn't have the problem again (it's been a while).
