Photoshop cannot save ANYTHING

I've had this problem for a few weeks now and it's driving me insane. I cannot Save, Save As, or Export literally ANYTHING from Photoshop. I don't get an error message, it doesn't crash, nothing happens. Just nothing. Using keyboard shortcuts or clicking from the main nav produces the same result. If I use a Cmd+S shortcut I can see "File" in the nav bar highlights for a moment, but then nothing. Attempts to Save for Web bring up the window and I can choose PNG, JPG, GIF or whatever, but clicking Save at this point also does nothing. The button shows the "down" state when pressed but then nothing happens. That window stays open as if I have done nothing.

The problem applies to existing PSD files, new files, anything I try to open and Save.

I have tried reinstalling Photoshop, reinstalling Creative Cloud, installing an older version of Photoshop, also changing some settings e.g.:

Preferences > Export > Quick Export Location toggled to ask/not ask

Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor on/off

None of this works and I can't seem to find anyone else who's had a similar problem. I've had to Select All, Edit > Copy Merged, and paste into Figma to be able to export as a workaround for now.

Any help would be appreciated, I feel like I'm going insane and nobody in the rest of my team have had this issue.

What I'm using:

Photoshop v23.1.0 (but also tried v22, same problem)

macOS Monterey v12.0.1

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

2 updates here (still haven't solved it):

  1. Saw someone suggest something I hadn't tried; clearing Photoshop preferences/deleting current preferences by pressing Command + Option + Shift on cold-starting Photoshop. Still doesn't work.
  2. Saving to Cloud seems to work fine, but it's local document saving that produces the same problem. When the Save to Creative Cloud window appears, clicking the "On your computer" button just dismissed the window and again, nothing happens. T_T

As of today Photoshop now saves files again. Not sure what changed, but hope it stays working now!
