Greetings!
I have recently updated my entire CC library to the 2017 updates, and am now having relentless issues with photoshop. Allow me to list them off.
-NO files will open when using the "open" feature (Ctrl+O), including .psd files. The file explorer accepts the file as chosen, and photoshop does absolutely nothing.
-Open as and Open as smart object do the same as opening a file regularly.
-If I create a new document, I can drag in files and modify them that way, but that causes issues.
-The document will not update ANY changes made to it unless I switch to the move tool.
And that is all i have found out before I gave up entirely on the program.
PLEASE HELP! I have attempted to delete all preferences, and I really do not want to have to re-install photoshop entirely, so does anyone have a way to fix this? I have a final project due for my classes in a few days, and this is not helping!
PC specs:
Windows 10 Home Version 1607 (x64)
Intel Pentium 2030(M) @ 2.5 GHz (x64 based)
8GB RAM
HP Laptop ( Modified after factory default )
PS: No, all my drivers are up to date. So don't say that please.
Redownload the previous versions, thats what i did, i got CC 2015 back, never going back to 2017, its all works of unprofessional "pretend business people" thats what they are.

What happens when you use Ctrl+O and select a file and click open? Nothing, Crash, Hang?

Actually, nothing. It just sits there like I didn't do anything, and gives me access to all the available program features. It hasn't crashed or hung

I have seen the problem with opening files and nothing happening, but usually it is fixed by rebooting Windows 10. You also tend to find that the photoshop.exe process does not shut down in Task Manager when Photoshop is closed. Try rebooting your PC

I tried already. Even let the battery die completely before fully recharging, totally disallowed any adobe programs to run, stopped all services, and still nothing.

Hello,
I must admit I struggled when I had this problem and didn't come up with a satisfactory solution-so when rebooting worked I was quite relieved. I would suggest letting an Adobe technician have a look at your machine. Use the link below and go to the 'Chat' option. Unfortunately it's only a weekday service. The technician will be able to 'remote desktop' to your machine-something we cannot do here.

Talked to them, they did nothing to help me. Instead, they told me to come here. I have just downgraded photoshop for now.

This wat happens when newbies come into the company and fk all the features up and replace it with designs only, I hope adobe goes bankrupt and microsoft takes over. My problem with photoshop is with the move tool, I cant move my drawn lines, instead it makes a marque selection that doesnt even select anything. Pffft Waste my whole day trying to figure it out but nothing worked.

sounds as if you should be looking at a simpler product like Elements or Affinity. If you had ever used Microsoft Expression, which was an attempt to enter the graphics market, I doubt whether you would be so enthusiastic to have Microsoft get involved in the professional graphics market-the product started off at $350 and ended up being given away for free with Visual Studio-be careful what you wish for!

What you could try is creating a new account on Windows 10 as an Administrator. It is a better way to reset Creative Cloud than just resetting preferences as it functions like a brand new install. Even if it works though who really wants a separate logon to use Photoshop?

PS CC wont open ANY jpgs, gifs ect since the lates 2017 update - HELP!!!!
PS 2017 is now broken after installing udate as a ref
I am using an Imac and and it wont open any images at all - NONE of the options suggested on other help sites a are working for me - this has brought all my work to a grinding halt - people are relying on me - very disappointed - even in the CC 2014 progamme that I opted to keep just in case something like this happened - is there a way of uninstalling the updates and going back to the old versions
From what I can see on other forums there are a lot of other issues too -
I want to go back to before the update in a hurry
it is costing us money and credibility and we are letting people down
already tried right-clicking and manually selecting the Photoshop executable. It doesn't work.
Some one else suggested they were able to solve this issue by unticking the Show "Start" Workspace When No Documents Are Open in the General section of the preferences - they also disabled graphics acceleration but that didn't work, at least not on its own - but that doesnt work either just keeps giving me the message """Could not complete your request because the file was not found.""""
I have even uninstalled PS 2017 and gone all the way back to PS2014 and it is still happening - AGGGRKKK!!!!!
What has ADOBE done to this program...????? what good is an image editor that wont open or edit the most commonly used form of image?????
I really need help on this please
