Since I installed 2017 version it lags every time I start the program, if I go fast to File > New it ignores my command until it stops lagging (3-5 seconds aprox.) and I have to repeat command, not just clicking New but also open the menu (menu closes without opening New file).

I'm almost 100% sure it have something to do with new emoji fonts.

If you just started Photoshop I think we see Photoshop UI before Photoshop is fully initialized and threads started during Photoshop still need to finish and may steals focus away for your use of Photoshop's UI and some of what you are trying to do get lost in the process. It could be many things IMO and may be longer than 3-5 seconds if you have added many add-ons. When Photoshop starts it initializes many thing you can see some info messages being displayed in Photoshop Flash screen. Plug-in, Fonts, Patterns, Scripts and many other things need initializing. To speed this process up I believe Photoshop may use independent threads that may need to complete before you can actually start using Photoshop. I find thins like shortcut do not work till Photoshop's UI is really is in control and has focus.

All guesswork I could easily be wrong. Perhaps it is emoji

One month has passed and still no solution/fix? I wish I didn't update the PS right after the new version come out. It's so frustrating to work with text, even changing the font of a paragraph takes like 5 seconds.

Unfortunately no fix. I'm dealing with the same situation like you and I try to remain calm and avoid working with text paragraphs. If there's 2-3 rows works acceptable. If it is more, it`s a nightmare. Don't know why they didn`t came with a solution by now.

I've just lost it and installed the older version. Working with 500+ characters like a charm. There is really no feature I'll miss from the 2017 version for now. (even the new document screen was laggy, at least you could turn that off).

I believe I have found a way to resolve the issue...though it's not a permanent fix.

Turn off Font Preview in Photoshop preferences

Choose Type > Font Preview Size.
Select None.

I found this option at:

You'll note, you no longer have font previews, but I can live with that for now, as I know the fonts I use, and you can sort of preview them live on the text layer itself.

I will also dig through my fonts and see if I can find the one that may be corrupt or causing the issue, but I think this explains why some people are having this issue and others are not, and that it happens on both Windows and Mac.

Now, CC 2017 is flying faster than ever! Hopefully Photoshop will read these posts and resolve this issue...as well as give us a real way to preview these fonts in the workspace with our own sample text.

Jey JJ Mark. Here's my info file. Same issue. Tried every solution. Tested on 3 different systems, running Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Same issue on each platform. For me it`s clear it`s a Photoshop bug, and not a settings / fonts / OS problems.

Try installing the CC 2017 updates. Many CC 2017 bugs were fixed.

Same problem here, I also opened a topic about this a few days ago... Photoshop is currently unusable for any work involving text.

I have the exact same issue, massive lag on just editing simple text layers!!! This is absolutely unbelievable! we're CC 2017 people... this is nuts!

Same-ish problem here. Lagging while editing text - 2 seconds when using cmd+a for selecting whole text, lagging while highlighting parts of text, deleting it, etc. Previous versions - without any problem, now it's really annoying to even copy text outside from the PS.

I'm on the macOS, so it shouldn't be OS related as hdbrew is running Windows.

postrophe no third party...but I am using Adobe Fonts from CC, the TypeKit, etc....
