After using CC 2019 for awhile, it seems to get sluggish and slow and I eventually have to shut it down before I lose my work. Is anybody else having this problem?

The more information you provide, the better. What computer, OS, RAM & storage capacity, and what exact version of Photoshop 2019 are you using.

I am using the latest version of CC 2019, the last update. I am using Windows7. Will try to get the system info to you.
The program does fine but after awhile, it slows down like it's tired like I feel sometime. There is a real difference and I have to shut it down.

So did you trash your Photoshop preferences as suggested?

If I trash all of them I will be sorry. Which preferences would cause this?
Thank you

It's a application corruption that builds up over a period of time.
If this is the cause of your issue, and it may not be, resetting your Photoshop preferences will sort it out.

Is your hard drive getting full? What size is it and how much free space is there?

My hard drive is fine. Plenty of space.

Definitely trash your preferences. I’ve had to do it from time to time

The OP seems reluctant to trash his preferences for some reason!

Is this the same as re-setting the preferences? Because in the past when that happened I had a hard time getting it back to my custom setting. It was a pain.

You need to decide whether you prefer .”sluggish” or need to reset your preferences. Not normally much of an issue for most users. Of course your issue might be caused by something else. It’s your call — you’ve been asking about it on this forum for over a week and you don’t seem to got much further.

This is a completely unacceptable situation. A user has to either choose between a sluggish application, or reinstating all of their custom preferences including workspaces, colour setups, brushes etc etc etc? Setting up prefs takes time and effort. Photoshop is the only application I ever see deleting user prefs as being a solution to continual lag/freezing/sluggish performance issues. It's a short term fix that will keep reappearing again and again. Adobe should prioritise fixing these constant lag/speed issues once and for all and stop stuffing Photoshop full of pointless gimmicks that no one ever uses.
I used to love Photoshop and my life and work centred around it. It is so buggy and glitchy now that I actively avoid using it as much as I can. even on a brand new, maxed out, top of the line iMac Pro, Photoshop is laggy and slow. It's a real shame how far this once great app has fallen.

You may find Photoshop like that but most of us don’t seem to have those issues, and when a user won’t even do a simple thing like resetting their preferences to see if that helps, and seems to prefer to stick with a sluggish computer, it’s their choice. They can save most of those preferences anyway, if they want.
I’ve been using Photoshop since version 1 and I find I have to reset my preferences once or twice a year — I also have to do so with InDesign. I don’t find that much of an inconvenience for such great software!

Okay, I just have to say something about this tripe. "Great software" doesn't require constant fiddling, trashing user preferences, and the like on a regular basis. That's apologist BS that persists only because the current Adobe suite doesn't really have a peer features- and integration-wise in the market at present. Telling people who pay a monthly subscription that such poorly optimized and buggy software is what they get for their money is pretty dissatisfying; I use Photoshop because I have to, not because I want to. Never knowing when an update will suddenly grind everything to a halt is pretty outrageous. When Microsoft bungles a Windows update as badly as Adobe does their own software on a regular basis, it's in the news. Adobe is honestly lucky that they don't have more total users to raise more hell, and it's obviously no wonder why there have been so many new competitor programs sprouting up over the last five years.
Honestly, imagine if I delivered a client an over-exposed final image and told them they just need to turn their monitor's brightness down every time they view it. That's some messed up gas-lighting nonsense to blame end users for using a product as intended and then telling them it's their fault when things don't function properly.
Get it together, and stop telling people it's somehow their fault for not wanting to waste their own time trying to fix something they pay Adobe market-leading prices to develop properly in the first place.

The majority of users don't have the issues you seem to be having, and when you don't indicate which application(s), versions and OS you have, and don't detail the issues you're having, it's difficult for other users to help you – and remember these are mainly user-to-user forums, not Adobe.

@Derek Cross - there are HUNDREDS of posts on here about Photoshop users suffering the same problems, so saying "The majority of users don't have the issues you seem to be having" is extremely unhelpful. Version number and OS is completely irrelevant - Photoshop + Wacom tablet + Mac OS is broken on all versions.

Same problem here. It happens on several PC's, on a freshly installed Windows 10 64-bit, 64 GB memory, SSD drive, scratch drive, all software updated, all Windows software updated, very fast gaming graphics card and i7 processor.
I followed all so called advice from many websites and it makes no difference whatsoever.
And FYI, Capture One 12 and DxO Labs 3 both run buttery smooth and fast. So, you are not alone. Its a Adobe problem and they don't seem to be able to solve it. So I use Capture One for RAW editing and Photoshop for finetuning. But really Adobe, this is a shame!
