Photoshop constantly Crashing

Ever since an update about a month ago, photoshop constantly crashes mid-project. Even though I do have auto-recovery on, I've lost so much work, and it is getting very frustrating. My anxiety is at an all time high over this, and I am literally clicking "save" after every single action to prevent any lost work. Before this update, I never had any issues with crashing. I did make a change in the settings per a suggestion. It seemed to help, but it caused the quality of my work to go way down (lines were not sharp, etc) so I reversed the change. Anyone know what's happening, and how to fix it?
