Photoshop CS4, upgrade version from Elements 7 - How to install?

I have PS CS4 CD that is an upgrade version from Elements 7.  Trying to install on a new Win 7 machine, Elements does not

come up on the list of previous versions allowed.  Used to be able to call Support and they would go thru a Challenge as & Activation

process that worked.  Support has been completely dropped, and they won't help anymore.  How can I install on the new machine?

I have one license left.

Thanks.

AFAIK, Creative Suite 4 was never available as an upgrade from Elements.  2 different product lines.  To qualify for a Creative Suite upgrade, you had to own a previous Creative Suite product (either CS3 or CS2).

As you say Creative Suite is legacy ware -- no longer sold, supported or updated.

PS Elements 15 can be purchased for about $100.

Picture editor software, photo enhancement tools | Adobe Photoshop Elements 15

The Creative Cloud Photography Plan (Photoshop Extended + Lightroom + other apps & services) is a great deal for just $10/month for a 1 year contract or $119.88 /yr.

Nancy -

Probably doesn't matter, but Adobe did have a special upgrade offer on CS4, from PE 7.  Was 2010, and you're correct that

there was no choice for PE during the install.  A quick call to support and they acknowledged it was an omission error.

Immediately gave me a "work-around" that involved a Challenge Code and then support provided a special Activation Code.

Worked perfectly and I've used CS4 happily since.  Tried the same thing this time, but obviously did not work.

Your message is exactly what Support told me, but they suggested the forum, in case someone might have developed a "work- around".

Doubt Adobe would be too happy if someone had done that!

Thanks for the help; just wanted to check all possibilities.
