Photoshop Embedded Profile Mismatch?

Participant ,
Jul 06, 2023 Jul 06, 2023

My settings were reset and I cannot find where to get my ProPhoto setting to stick. It keeps asking me which setting I want each time I open the document. I know there is a setting to keep this fixed without asking each time. Can someone please let me know where it is in Photoshop 2023. Thx so much.

Hi @Linns2 go to Edit>Color settings. You can choose the behavior there.

First of all, always make sure there is a profile embedded in the document. If there is, it will override the working RGB.

In other words, the working space really isn't important. It's just a default for new documents and missing profiles.

Now, there are a couple of messages that may come up if you don't disable them in Color Settings. One of them "warns" you if the document's embedded profile doesn't match the working space. I put that in quotation marks because it's a completely irrelevant message that has no significance whatsoever. There is no reason the embedded profile should match the working space.

So this message can (and should) be permanently disabled in Color Settings. It serves no purpose and just misleads users into thinking it actually matters.
