Photoshop export settings not reflected in Bridge

I have a 600 dpi photo that I resampled to 300 dpi. It is a 1394 px wide by 875 px high. When I look at the image in Bridge, the PSD shows 300 dpi but the exported .jpg from that image remains at 72dpi, and it places in InDesign at its original huge size. Why isn't the export from Photoshop working, or why isn't Bridge accepting the export?  I've tried both regular Export (choosing jpg) and Quick Export (which reflects my preferences and is essentially the same as I choose when using regular Export).

 

I'm working on a 600-page history book that has a hundred or more photos, and I really can't deal with this in such volume. Does anyone have any ideas?

 

Re programs, I'm on Windows, and I am using the latest/greatest updates from Creative Cloud.

Export was designed to export images for web use. As such it actually strips the ppi data out completely (it is meaningless for use on screen) , along with other metadata. In the absence of a ppi value InDesign, or even re-opening in Photoshop, will insert an assumed value just so that a physical size can be calculated. In this case 72ppi is used.

If you want to retain the ppi metadata, then use Save As rather than export

    Interesting.

     

    I did always use "Save As" until the last couple iterations of Photoshop, when the .jpg option disappeared from the Save As dropdown. When I found it instead under Export, that's when I started using it. But I didn't realize the limitation of the Export feature that you've explained here. 

    In trying to apply your advice re Save As, I have only just realized that it is only when I'm working with a PSD doc that the SaveAs .jpg option isn't available! I just did a Save As with a .jpg I edited, and the save-to-jpg option was there. I think because I edit photos so much and then save them to PSDs, I hadn't realized I was hoo-dooing myself out of a .jpg save option.

     

    I did just now, also, take a look at the Save A Copy option, and I found .jpg in there. I never thought to look there before! This will come in handy when I'm wanting to save a PSD to .jpg.

     

    And in all cases, Bridge is reflecting the correct dpi. So yay about that!
