Photoshop gets very laggy when GPU acceleration enabled

As of the past few months, my Adobe Photoshop 2024 has gotten extremely laggy, and very hard to use. From the debugging ive done, the issue seems to somewhat resolve itsself if I disable "Use graphics processor" in settings. But I would like to use GPU acceleration. I've tried reinstalling photoshop, and I have made sure my GPU drivers are up to date. I have also disabled G-sync system-wide. 'Older GPU mode' is also unchecked.
A few things I've noticed: under GPU mode at the botton, it always says "software". In the task manager, moving stuff, or inducing lag in any way will spike GPU under photoshop to 100%, but overall GPU usage doesnt go past 30%. It also does not list either my integrated or nvidia gpu as the active gpu engine it is using.

Are you using a laptop?
If you go to Preferences > Performance tab, what GPU does it say it's using?
You could clarify things by going Help > System Info > Copy and pasting to this thread.

I use a laptop with an eGPU (RTX 3060Ti). When I am docked, the 3060Ti will display, and when I am not it will show my integrated (Iris Xe). Photoshop lags equally whether I am docked or not. In both situations, photoshop will run better with gpu acceleration off completely.

Hey, @Trevor34993271jtyo. Welcome to the Photoshop Community.
Without the E-GPU, your machine has an integrated Intel Iris GPU with 12 months-old drivers. The I-GPU utilizes the total RAM available on your machine. Please update the GPU drivers, and they should help with performance to some extent.
As a test, try these steps:
1 - Uncheck "Older GPU mode' & close Photoshop.
2 - Try disabling the integrated Intel GPU while using only the Nvidia GPU when you use Photoshop. Follow here for the steps: https://adobe.ly/3KWDW6r
