Photoshop is locking my files

This is the second time reporting this bug, first time couple of weeks ago resulted with no response. Photoshop is giving me a warning on random files, either files that are old or brand new like the one I have to send to a now lost client in about 20 minutes but here I am trying to get help.  I get a warning that 'the file is locked' or 'you do not have necessary permissions' or 'another program is using the file'  I have never had this problem until recently and have lost complete trust in using Adobe and Photoshop as my editing software.

Will someone from Adobe please look into this

Ged, I'm working locally. One thing I forgot to mention is I can open a RAW file in ACR, edit it, and be locked out when I try to open in Photoshop. And it's all random, never know when it will happen

@tomh7834122 are you logged into the PC with an administrator account, are you working off either the D or H drive, if you are, have you tried copying a file to the desktop and working from there to test

Hard to say if it's a PS bug or not now. One of the files in question is on my D drive which I tried to copy and paste onto my desktop and it would get stuck at 22% transfered while other files in the same folder would copy and paste with no problem. The only editting done on the RAW files was applying the denoise. It would be great if it was happening all the time which might make it easier to trace the problem but being random I don't know when or if it will happen again. Could be couple of hours, days or weeks

Judging by your last reply, I'd be inclined to think it's a disk issue rather than a Photoshop one

I do not believe this is a disc problem and is a Photoshop problem. Tried transfering (copy and paste) many files of different from my D drive to the desktop with no problems. The only files that I have had problems with are files created by Photoshop.

Try closing all other programs (except Photoshosp), even if the file is not open in those programs.

Another thing to try is to find the file wherever it is saved on your computer, right click on it, choose Properties from the context menu that appears, and make sure that there is no check mark on Read Only.

Hi, this seems to be a problem with photoshop / latest update! I get the same error (randomly), but not when opening a file, but when using filters like "liquify" on a layer. I need to restart photoshop to fix this.

One thing you absolutely should do immediately is back down on memory allocation in Preferences. With only 16 GB installed 85% is way too high. You could get away with that if you had 64 GB installed, but with 16 you're not leaving much for the rest of the system.

Note that ACR runs outside Photoshop's address space, and needs its own memory separate from Photoshop.

Set it to 70% max.
