Photoshop not opening any photos since last update (Win11)

Since the last photoshop update yesterday (version: 4.3.0 20230316.r.376 37b4b38  x64) I cannot open any photo. Each photo ends up flickering black/white in the window. The navigation preview seems correct. But the main view is just flickering black/white.

How can I roll back to an earlier photoshop version?

This did not work to solve the problem in Win11

I have set Photoshop to be the default program to open my TIFF files.

If I click a photo's file name, nothing happens.

If I right click the file name and choose Open with Photoshop, Photoshop opens then the file is opened.

If I then left click another photo's file name, nothing happens.

Meanwhile there are 15 Adobe and Creative Cloud background services running, doing nothing useful to make Photoshop actually work.

I have no problems when clicking other relevant file types in Word, WordPerfect, Adobe Reader etc which open immediately , so this does not seem to be an OS Win11 problem.

The problem seems to be a failure of Photoshop to interact fully with the OS filing system.  Has MS done anything to it recently?

@CVHManchester the issue the OP was having is unrelated to the issue you described, what exact version of Photoshop do you have, have you tried manually resetting your Photoshop preferences

Thank you. I did all that. Photoshop was removed and reinstalled  -but.

Now when I click the Photoshop button on my desktop, a blue circle runs for a couple of seconds, stops and nothing else happens.

If I right click the desktop Photoshop button>Open file location, Photoshop.exe  is in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024, modified  few minutes ago.

I do not have Photoshop active, but there are 4 instances of Adobe Photoshop 2024 running in Background processes.

If I right click the desktop Photoshop shortcut button> Run as administrator> it asks me to open Photoshop 2023

If I right click an image file and Open with Adobe Photoshop 2024, one of the background processes has ca 3% CPU activity briefly, then stops and Photoshop is not opened.

I am very muddled about how Photoshop 2024 has appeared in 2023 in my computer. It looks as though Windows is equally confused about what year this is, and which one Photoshop is living in.

I have left clicked and right clicked (2 options) of the image file, Tiff ca 3.2 GB. nothing appeared. Except that there are now 8 instances of Adobe Photoshop 2024 running in Background processes.

Is there a backroom office full of digital elves doing nothing but passing bits from chip to chip, jobs for the boys?

According to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\Manage Accounts

there is only one user/account, mine.  So there should be no confuson.

I meant creating a new user account and signing into the PC with that account to see if you have the same issue

Created a new account (eventually).

Went to Start>Apps > Adobe Photoshop 2024

the little blue circle went round for a couple of seconds, stopped and PS screen did not appear.

But 2 instances of Adobe Photoshop 2024 were active in Background processes at 0% CPU.

Hi, sorry to hear that... please post the contents of Photoshop's Help>System Info... menu, so that we get to know your OS, its version, the exact version of Photoshop you are running, the date of the GPU driver, etc.

Photoshop will start and files will open. But it takes about 10 minutes to open  a 2 GB file.  For about 8 1/2 minutes, nothing seems to be happening, then the information window showing opening pogress ticks through the file opening in a minute.

Any idea what is causing this extraordinary delay?

About 5 minutes later, the image file was displayed in Photoshop.

On the Taskbar, the icon of Photoshop is a blank sheet, which occasionally flashes. On right click, it is labelled Adobe Photoshop 2024.

I left clicked another image file and waited 5 minutes, nothing.  I right clicked another image file and waited 5 minutes, it then appeared.  I have a reasonably fast computer with a fair bit of memory

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700 2.10 GHz

32 GB RAM

The files are on a reasonable SSD.  I was hoping a faster computer would result in faster Photoshop, but the opposite has happened.

In the past, Photoshop showed the progress of loading, but that no longer appears.
