Photoshop running painfully slow since update a few weeks ago

So about a month ago or so, Photoshop was running absolutely fine. I could open 100-200mb files, copy in huge vectors from AI without issue.

Recently with the latest update, I'm struggling to create a 1000x1000 file and create shapes. It runs horrendously slow.

I've got a i5 6600k,1060 6GB GTX and 16GB RAM so its not a system issue. Should also add that this is Windows specific only as it runs perfectly on my 5 year old macbook..

What I don't understand is Photoshop runs at about 20% CPU usage and uses about 1-2GB of RAM so its not hogging system resources. At idle, my machine runs at about 10% CPU and 30% Memory so plenty of wiggle room

Suggestions? (I've already uninstalled and reinstalled. Seem to fix the problem temporarily but its back now)

Something is wrong. At idle here Photoshop uses 0% CPU.

What version of Photoshop are you using. The latest, released this week, is 19.1.3 r293 (check Help>System info)

Can you paste your system details from Photoshop>Help>System Info >Copy

I mean in general, PC sitting there, my overall CPU use is about 10%.

Hi

I don't see an issue in your system info. There is not much space for scratch disk but I would expect that to show up as an error when using larger files or complex operations.

Did you try the preference reset as suggested by Ged?

I just checked - mine hovers between 0% and 1%. Anyway that is an aside and not the cause of hespg's issues.

Interested to see if the Preference reset made any difference.
