Photoshop Save / Bridge Thumbnails

Explorer ,
Mar 25, 2025 Mar 25, 2025

Greetings everyone

(I know this is not Photoshop related, but no-one is responding to my question on the Bridge forum.)

I have three screenshot jpeg images in a folder. One image loads a Thumbnail and a Preview and the other two don't.

I have reset the Preference Settings, Purged the Cache, given Full Disk Access to Bridge and checked all settings and Preferences.

The one image that loads the Thumbnail & Preview also displays the full Metadata. The other two show no Dimensions, Resolution or Colour Profile. These images were Saved in Photoshop and not Exported.

The same issue is visible on Bridge 2025 and on 2022.

The images that do not show, do open in Photoshop 2025.

The images that do not show in Bridge do show in Finder and open in Preview.

The images that don't show, also do not show in Capture One - which makes me think that it is not necessarily a Bridge issue, but more a Photoshop Save issue.

The issue is not isolated - I get the same issue with work that has been saved on multiple 24inch M1 Mac computers (student work).

I am on a MacBook Pro (M1) with all Apps fully updated to the latest versions.

I kindly request some assistance with this problem.

Regards

It is possible that the preview part of the file is corrupt. Consider opening the file, select all, then File, new, ok, paste and flatten, then save to a new folder and then replace the old file with the new one.

Also, you might delete all Bridge cache in the User Library (Go to folder ~/Library),  Caches, Adobe Bridge

I can open the file in Photoshop, but that does not answer my question or solve my problem. The file is not corrupt, it just does not show a Thumbnail or Preview.

I am sure that will work, but it does not solve my problem. I need to know why this happens so that I can advise my students as to what they are doing wrong or otherwise on a possible Mac setting. This happens randomly, on various computers.

Hi, Let's try to figure out this issue! The issue might be related to how the images were saved in Photoshop rather than Bridge. Since the images that don't show thumbnails and previews in Bridge also fail to display metadata, there might be a problem with the way Photoshop is saving these files.

  1. Check Photoshop Save Settings: Ensure that the images are saved correctly in Photoshop with all necessary metadata. Try saving the images using different settings or formats to see if the issue persists.
  2. Bridge Preferences: Double-check the preference settings in Bridge, including cache settings and disk access permissions. Sometimes, resetting preferences or purging the cache can help resolve display issues.
  3. File Names and Locations: Ensure that the file names and folder names do not contain any localized characters that might cause issues with thumbnail generation.

Let me know if this helps and if you're still experiencing the issue. Thanks! ^CH
