Photoshop scratch disks full on new computer?

Hello.

I just purchased a new macbook and opened Photoshop to work with it, but it says my scratch disks are full already! 

I'm using the MacBook Pro M1Pro chip with Photoshop 2022.

I got this error message when I tried to move one of my artboards around, I haven't even created any other layers yet. 

I attached my scratch disk panel, please let me know what I'm doing wrong. 

I signed out of my previous computer where I used to work with Photoshop, is it related to that?

What size document are you working on? A common error, just to check,  is to accidentally set up a document as for example 1000 x 1000 inches instead of 1000 x 1000 pixels. At 300 ppi that equates to 300000 x 300000 pixels which is a huge document and will eat scratch disk space.

My PPI was too high, it was 300 ppi for 1080x1920 px

It was precisely that! I didn't check my DPI/PPI and it was set to 300. 

quick question, so art boards don't work with large files (300 dpi+)?

PPI is just a number alongside the image, used to calculate how big the image will print. In Photoshop it only pixels that matter i.e. the dimension of the image in pixels.

As an example an 8000 x 6000 pixel document at 300ppi and at 1ppi will take up exactly the same memory and scratch use. On printing though, the second will be huge as each pixel will use a square inch of print space.

The common error is to enter for example 1920 x1080 as inches instead of pixels. That results in a massive pixel size document.
