Photoshop: Spinning (Progress) Wheel Missing When Opening Files

Normally, when you open a large file in PS, while it is loading a "spinning wheel" appears to show you that it is in progess. Recently, my latest PS CC 2021 doesn't do it anymore. There would be no "spinning wheel" and PS gives the impression that it has freezed up (it has not) — i.e., nothing happens until all at a sudden the file pops up.

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but I am very annoyed by it. Is there a way to fix this?

I don’t have a solution, but maybe if you try to reset the preferences will work, here the instructions:
