Photoshop TIFF files coming out black - for Windows and 3rd party software

Importing 32 bit floating point EXR files from my 3D software and processing them has never been a problem so far. I convert to 16 Bit and then save as/export.

Today I tried to export three 9k images, all showed as black on Windows 10 and in Topaz Gigapixel. Reopening them in PS works just fine. Tried saving with ZIP/LZW/Image Pyramid, no change. Only png export works!

What might have gone wrong? I've read of this issue from 9 years ago, never had this issue before.

It's because Preview and 3rd party apps read and apply the alpha premultiplied.

Either delete the Alpha or fill it with White so it's not making all the pixels transparent.

Can you share one of the files you're having trouble with? (link to cc files or dropbox)

One thing to try is: Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

Hi Jeffrey,

since this forum works neither on Chrome, nor FF I'm trying this via mail.

The file is linked here
!
I just created it with native canvas deactivated.

Thank you!

All right, deleting the Alpha channel (which was deactivated?) did the job!
So I'll just have to set EXR output to RGB instead of RGBA for projects
that don't require alpha. Lesson learned.

Thank you!
