Photoshop Tools (Image Processor) disappeared from Bridge 2017

I installed PS 2017 and Bridge 2017.  Image Processor (and the whole Photoshop tab in Tools) did not appear in Bridge.  Reinstalled PS 2017.  No luck.  Reinstalled Bridge 2017.  Image Processor came back.  BUT THE NEXT DAY when I turned on computer, the Photoshop tab in Tools had again disappeared.  I followed the video instructions and manually removed the preference files.  No luck.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Bridge.  No luck.  Did the same with Photoshop.  No luck.  Very frustrating.

After that I uninstalled, then reinstalled both in different orders and said "no don't keep my apps" (or whatever it say).  No luck. More time wasted.

Did another re-install, and problem was solved this time, and fix even persisted when boot computer.  Fingers crossed.

OK try this:

Right-Click on one of the images and Select Open With.  See this picture:

If you see Photoshop listed then click on it and see if it works.

This is to check whether Photoshop is correctly registered on your computer.  By uninstalling several times, you have made your machine unstable and so the only way to rectify this is to use Adobe Cleaner to remove everything before reinstalling again.

I did that and got the following.  It opened in Camera Raw and then Photoshop.  Mine says "18.0" as part of the Photoshop name.   Is that a bad thing?  Thanks.

It's OK to have 18 as part of the name because it is version 18.  It looks like Adobe has different servers for different countries and so the products' interface is not synchronized.  I just checked my update history and it says everything is up to date - old and new so I won't be getting any more sleepless nights over this.

Any way so it looks like your system is working fine but your File Associations have disappeared.   I suggest open your Bridge again and then go to:

Edit >> Preferences

Then look for File Type Associations.

Create one or two like jpg and png (these are all in the list) and then "Browse" for the application to see if this recreates the entry that is currently missing.  The entry on your system will be None but there is also an arrow to browse for the application.  Try it.

Of course you need to create for all of them gif, tiff etc etc. and even PSD,  but first thing first.

So hopeful - but then I checked Preferences and it already has the associations (see below).  And Bridge has always opened files in Photoshop, just using "Open".  Thanks for your persistence.  I await your next suggestion.

I had hoped that since this is a problem that pops up in many versions of Photoshop, and since it's such a useful tool that has disappeared because of the unfortunate 'upgrade' recommended by Adobe, someone at Adobe would work on this until it's solved.

In Bridge, I clicked on "Reveal My Startup Scripts" - it sent me to Bridge CC / Startup Scripts and it is empty.  Where would I find the necessary scripts?   Are you saying they deleted the scripts in the update?I can see hidden files.

Did my occasional "Let's install and reinstall" session, but this time, I shut down and restarted before the reinstall of Bridge, and suddenly I have my Tools - Photoshop back.  Hope it lasts.

Mine returned as well.

All did was a system reboot due to another issue.

So much for high hopes.  Shutting the computer down killed the fix.  Should have done a screen shot so I'd know it wasn't just a dream.  I used to speak highly of Adobe - now I think "class action lawsuit".  Not really, but I can see how people get annoyed enough to say "Disappointed customers of the world, unite!"  Other than that, life is good!

When you press CTRL+ALT+o do you get PS2017 open?  The three keys contains letter O (not digit zero) so try it.  This is to test if PS is recongnized by your operating system.  Try this from Bridge2017 to see if the three keys does work or not.

I assume you don't have any other image editing software like Photoshop Elements or Corel Paintshop Pro.

I have Lightroom, Photoshop & Bridge - that's it.

I am surprised that there is no fix for this.  It's a program that should have all the parts, and a re-install without using any of my saved stuff shouldn't require some magic wand - but guess I'm wrong on that.  It was such a nice Tool to have - just another thing lost in 2016.

I just had the same problem happen to me. (No Photoshop menu in Tools).

What I did was opened up Creative Cloud App, which showed me that there are updates for both Photoshop CC and Bridge CC.

Firstly, I updated Photoshop, then I updated Bridge.

When starting Bridge the system asked me whether I wanted to import my Prefs, which I did.

Tools>Photoshop are back!

I hope this helps some people.

Note:

The first time when starting Bridge I said No to Importing Preferences, just to see whether the issue was with my preferences, Photoshop was present in my Tools menu. So I Force-Killed Bridge through the Task Manager and re-started it again, but this time said Yes to import. *Both times Photoshop was present in the Tools menu. So whether you choose to import or not, everything will be fine.

I solved the problem with a reset config. Ctrl+Alt+Shift and click to open Bridge. Select all resets in the window Reset settings.
