Hi Adobe Support & Community,

I encountered an error yesterday, December 1st, 2021, that cost my superior's company

money due to a large delivery of images being delayed.

I am a photo retoucher with over 20 years of experience.

My team and I have written a simple action for converting hundreds of apparel images to PNG.

The action runs "Export - save for web (legacy)" with specific settings to keep the PNG

file size under 5MB, as per one of our client's requests.

Here is an image of the Action window:

Under 5MB action window.jpg

Up until yesterday "automate - batch" with this action has worked fine.

As of yesterday it no longer works with Photoshop 23.0

The file sizes (normally under 1MB) are much larger than a "save for web (legacy)" PNG should be (now over 15MB)

If I run the action one image at a time it runs perfectly fine. But anything over 1 image no longer works properly.

Here is an image of the "automate batch action" window:

automate batch window.jpg

As a result of this error I had to run the action 1 image at a time (over 200 images).

I am downloading an older version of photoshop in the hope that "automate batch action"

will work properly so I canmeet client deadlines today.

Any solutions to this issue would be greatly appreciate. Thank you all for your time.

Sincerely,

John the Retoucher at Space & Light

Hi John,

Sorry about the trouble with batch edit in Photoshop.

What are the versions of your Photoshop and operating system?
From when are you facing this trouble?
In which location are you saving these files? Do we have enough space?

Were you able to run the action earlier?

Try disabling the GPU use.
Go to Photoshop's Preferences > Performance and uncheck Use Graphics Processor and restart. If it still doesn't work you may try resetting Photoshop preferences back to defaults and check if that helps. Here's the article for the steps: https://adobe.ly/3ceal5t Also, back up the existing Photoshop preferences if you have any custom brushes, action, and workspace: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Ranjisha
