Hi, I scanned in a drawing, exported it as a png and now I want to bring the png back into another PSD composition but it is super pixelated when placed. I don't understand what is going wrong because it is scanned at 300ppi and looks fine when opened in the original file but goes very pixlated when brought into a new one. I have tried exporting the original png as a very scaled up version to see if it would help but it didn't.
I have attached screenshots, the non pixelated one is the original before export, the rest are what it looks like when brought back into photoshop.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi. In the screenshot with the zoom at 134%, it looks good, right? In the other screenshots the scale is like 400% and the pixelates effect should be normal.

hi, thanks for your reply. I understand it gets more pixelated when zoomed in, but the file completely changes once placed. Also, If i bring the exact same png into a file in illustrator, it doesn't pixelated like it does in photoshop

Could you please post the placed image and a screenshot of th eplaced image taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?
What are the Image Interpolation Preferences?

Image being displayed 134% and Top Swirl 3 layer not the smart object swirl 3 layer is being displayed as a preview for a transform. Transform Previews are crude.
Can not tell Zoom level here the qualitp may actually be good. Judge zoomed to 100%
Looks like you are zoomed way in here so you can see the pixel grid and the anti-aliasing being done.
This look like it is the crude Swirl 3 Transform Preview. There must be some stray pixels in that raster layers the swirl is not centered in the Transform interface.
