polygonal lasso tool

I use the polygonal lasso tool a lot to mist edges around images.  Lately the tool won't get all the way around the image without connecting together too soon.  Then I have to start over usually to have it happen again.  Is there a setting for the sensitivity on this tool?  If not, what is wrong here?

There is no sensitivity for that tool. I tend to make the selection in pieces then add more using the shift key to add to the selection, rather than trying to do it in all one try.

Double check your mouse settings, maybe you can change the double click speed

when you double-click using the Polygon Lasso tool, the selection will close. It is possible that you double-clicked without realizing it.

Well, maybe I was double clicking and didn't realize it.  I believe this only happens when I use feather.  If it continues to happen I will try that trick, Chuck.  Thank you for all your answers.
