Is there a special reason for not using Bridge rather than the limited preview?

You mentioned reinstalling Photoshop--did you try that yet? Also, can you open your document and show us a screenshot of your workspace and your channels and paths panels?

Thanks!

You can trial out psb Quicklook, I've used  it for years. Free to try, 9.99 to buy.

Do you have any Channel masks or paths in your file? Sometimes a Path will create problems with the preview. If you could post a screenshot so we can see what you are looking at--it would be a great help!

Here it is: Contact Customer Care   That's Adobe's own Support.

This is a difficult problem and I would be guessing at this point and so I do not want to make it worse.

Next: Go to Photoshop –> Preferences –> File Handling settings, and set both Maximize Compatibility and Image Previews to checked.

You may need to make a non-destructive change and re-save the PSD. A "non-destructive change" is one that does not modify the file, but allows the file to be resaved. Toggling the Layer visibility eyeball off and on in the Layers Panel is one way. It's then registered as a change and the file can be rewritten and hopefully fixed.

Also: Hold down Alt/Opt while clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Relaunch (Finder) is now an option. Click on that.

Do you have a program called "Sketch" installed? If so update or remove it.

If you don't, start your Mac in Safe mode.

  1. Start or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key. The Apple logo appears on your display. ...
  2. Release the Shift key when you see the login window. Then login. If your psd thumbnails are normal, then log out
  3. Then restart  in normal mode.
