Problem with some text layers after update to CC 2020 (program error)

I recently updated from CC2019 to CC 2020 and also reinstalled my entire operating system.
After the update a file I have been working on refused to save and when trying, displayed the dreaded "Could not complete your request because of a program error" message.
So, I started getting rid of layers and layer folders until the problem went away and pinpointed the problem to a couple of text layers using the same font.
Each of these layers had, on the layers panel, a small triangle with an exclamation mark next to it.
At first I tried changing the font - again the error message popped. changing other properties was possible but didn't solve the issue. I also tried the stuff in the type menu such as "update all text layers" but that didn't seem to do anything.
Once I deleted those layers (no big loss, each had three words), Photoshop was able to save the file. The font itself was not the problem though - I created new layers withthe same font and had no problem saving.
My question is: what am I supposed to do in such a case? is there a way to see the nature of the problem? some way to fix it other than deleting those layers?
