Hello
I've got problem with new(?) feature in Photoshop CS6.
When I'm working on my project and have for example 150% zoom and I want to move workspace with SPACE+LMB.
In my previous version (CS3) I can do this without problem but know Photoshop shows me my file with FIT TO SCREEN zoom and some frame to choose
which screen area I want to zoom in.
It's just zooming out to full view of file. I hate this, but I can't turn it off.
My system info:

It is supposed to still work the way you want (Pan invoked by holding the space bar down), and for me and others I know it does work. I am running Windows 7 x64 as well.
Any chance you've swapped your right and left mouse buttons? Has a left-handed person used your system recentliy? Check the Windows control panel settings for your Mouse.
If not, something must be intercepting the space bar key events on your system, though I don't know what that might be. Have you got any utilities running that intercept keystrokes to do special things (e.g., invoke different desktop functions)?

No, I'm pretty sure and check this. Mouse button orientation is good.
It's look like this on screenshot:
The worst thing with this that is don't do everytime. It's depend, but I have no idea from what.
How it works?
I've got image with 1000px width and 3000px height. I'm zoomint part with text and zoom is in 300%.
I choose Text tool, write something, hit CTRL+Enter to accept this. Then, I click 'V', hold Space and then I can move workspace.
But when I write this text, accept this, choose ZOOM tool and zoom out once or twice, then it's start like on screenshot.
I can't work like this 😕

You are describing the behaviour when H key is held down and left-mouse button is dragged. Strange that it should happen with spacebar. Something to try... activate Hand Tool, then in Options bar, right-click the hand icon at the left and pick Reset Tool.

Good call conroy... What's that called... I guess they never gave it a name. It's described here:

Thank you. I was thinking "view from 30,000 feet" and I knew that seemed wrong.
I wonder how it got connected to Igor's space bar.

OK, now we know how this magic trick called
I've looking in Google for this and few people write about this in CS5.
Some of them advice to turn off OpenGL or uncheck USE GRAPHIC PROCESSOR.
For that moment I think it's help!
It really strange, but Adobe should reconsider to add checkbox in Settings - Turn Off Bird Eye View.
Than You gonna make happy few people

There is no setting to disable "bird's eye view" because it should only happen when you press the H key and drag the mouse. There is a fault if it works with the spacebar instead of the H key.
Did you try my suggestion to enable the Hand Tool then do Reset Tool in the Options bar? That possibly will restore correct operation of the spacebar.

If this so-called "Bird's eye view" is a feature, then the fact that it is activated by space bar is definitely a bug. and should be fixed as soon as possible because it is so annoying.
Btw, the problem occurs in CS5 as well. A couple of people have suggested turn on "Scrubby zoom" to resolve the issue. While I think doing so may help, I am not a big fan of "Scrubby zoom" either.
Adobe, please fix this issue. The software is not cheap!!!

Yes, "bird's eye view" is a feature. There's no "if" about it.
Igor never followed up with whether resetting Photoshop preferences fixed it. Have you tried that?

I was just being sarcastic. I knew it is a feature while searching for a way to fix the issue awhile back. I am very interested in knowing if any user out there could somehow fix the problem by reseting, reinstalling, etc. I got an update a few hours ago, and that didnt fix it either.
I have tried a lot of suggestions, and the only one seems to be working for me is to turn on "Scrubby Zoom"
Noel,
I run Adobe CS5 on MBP 10.6 and CS6 on MBPr 10.8. No additional plugins, English US keyboard. The laptops come with standard configuration... nonetheless, they both have the same issue.
I am sure my computers have different settings from others, but this issue does not seem to be isolate as there are other users have experience it too.
I personally, don't think it is too hard to re-create. Most likely happen when
1. Hold down space+command to zoom in
2. Release keys, then hold down space and start moving around
3. there you go, "bird's eye view" comes
One thing I notice is that the problem does not occur all the time.

BTW, I was suspecting the problem caused by the Apple Magic mices -- or whatever the wireless mouse with touch sensor -- because I use those for both laptop. But it seems like Igor does not use that.

Hi, I have this problem too, on Win7-64. Only way to fix is turning off graphics processing. CS5 also has this issue and it was solved by turning off OpenGL.
This reproduces it most of the time for me:
Zoom in a little bit
Hold down B
Press spacebar and drag
The birdseye box comes up.
I think the reason some people have random experiences is due to some kind of keyboard lag. I don't actually hold down B, etc and then move around with the spacebar. But I do often release that key a fraction of a second before pressing the spacebar. I'm using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, my guess is that the spacebar birdseye thing is a bug, and occasional keyboard lag makes it seemingly 'random'.
I've had a few other weird keyboard experiences in photoshop.. occasionally it will miss a keypress and sometimes it will think I'm holding the Alt key down when I am not. No other apps have this.

Good to know. It seems so obvious and not that hard to reproduce, but it doesn't get fixed.

Brad, it seems - since most others do not see the problem - that perhaps somehow your system is interfering with Photoshop's recognition of the keys you're holding down.
If they did take an interest in investigating your problem, Adobe would certainly want to know what operating system you're running, what add-on software you're running that could affect the user interface, and other specifics they might be able to use to try to reproduce what you're seeing.
Regardless of the high cost of the application, some of the responsibility to provide a good working environment within which Photoshop is to run does fall on you. It may be that you'll have to embark on an investigative process, disabling the things you have running in addition to Photoshop, until you find the conflict.
Best of luck locating the culprit. I'd start looking to see if your display driver suite provides some kind of hot key handling, and ensure that's turned off.

Unfortunatelly, I never fixed it and I was try get used to it 😕
I have no idea what can I do more with this so I left this.

What can I do more?

To add to Conroy's advice, you really don't want to turn off the Graphics Processor. You lose a lot of other functionality if you do that.
If resetting the Hand panning tool fails to restore proper operation you may want to do a complete Photoshop preferences reset.
What language are you set to use? I wonder if that could be a factor - maybe there's a bug in the language localization for your particular language.

Does it make a difference when you have use graphics processor enabled if you uncheck Enable Flick Panning under Edit>Preferences>General?
Also you should update photoshop cs6 to 13.01

Does anyone know if this problem ever got addressed? My work computer is fine, but my home computer will switch to "bird's eye view" when I use the space bar to pan about 1 out of every 3 times. It's driving me nuts. I haven't been able to figure out what's the key differecnce between my work machine and my home one. I tried all of the suggestions already provided, but no luck so far. Someone on another forum suggested it might be a keyboard related issue, so I bought a new one (I need an upgrade anyway), but that didn't help. If I figure anything new out, I'll let everyone know...but I'm stumped

I don't think the issue ever get addressed. And btw the problem also occurs on Adobe CS6. I use CS5 on my personal machine and CS6 on work's machine. They both get the same annoying problem. It is so obvious and easy to test, but doesn't seem like it gets any attention from Adobe

I just got a new computer at work and was upgraded to CS 6...so now my work computer is activating the bird's eye view when I hit space bar to pan now too. It's a total workflow killer and ruins my day. The only solution that I've found that works is to turn off the graphics processor, which at that point I might as well use MS Paint. I know it only affects a few users, but it's extremly frustrating for those that it does happen to. It's like someone is moving the mouse while you're using the wacom everytime you zoom. Not fun.
Here's a link I found to others having the problem made in 2011.
They disabled these forums a few weeks ago, but you can see there's a user that posted yesterday about it too. Not sure why it's being ignored.
I'd go back to CS3 if I could. What a bummer

The Bird's Eye view is normally activated by holding the H key while clicking and dragging. There is a bug that makes this feature sticky.
Press and let go of the Alt key, the menu bar quick access letters will remain underscored. Then press the H key, the Help menu opens up.
Don't click the menu, click anywhere on your picture and now the Bird's Eye view is sticky. Press H to return to normal.
1 - Alt (press and let go)
2 - H
3 - click on your picture, not the drop down menu

4 - H to unstick

I've tried this, and have been messing around for about 10 minutes zooming and panning with the spacebar. So far so good! This is the only time I've ever found a solution that works after searching the internet for a long time! Thanks a million
