Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but before updating to Photoshop 22.5.1 yesterday, ctrl-clicking on a layer would preserve different transparencies when then filling via alt- or ctrl-backspace (such as when making an alpha channel from that selection). Now using the same steps I get a uniform 100% opacity, and I can't seem to find out why. Aside from the update, I haven't knowingly changed anything, and I don't know if the problem lies with the selection or the fill.
In short:
Ctrl-click on a layer containing an object at 50% transparency.
On a new layer with the above selection active, alt- or ctrl-backspace to fill with foreground color.
This used to fill the selection at 50% transparency; now it fills at 100%.

It's pretty much been the same, for a long time. Ctrl clicking on a layer's icon will only select areas that have visible pixels and various transparent pixels. A fully non-transparent layer will show 100% selected. If you do the same on a channel, then you get a selection based on the luminosity.
