PS Automated Batch Process not saving files automatically to destination folder

Explorer ,
Jan 06, 2020 Jan 06, 2020

Recently my automated batch process stoped saving files automatically to the destination folder. The action being run does not have a save step since I also run it on files seperately.

I've tried different actions and made new actions to batch process... and nothing will automatically save to the destination folder. It asks me to click save for each image being batched.

I have tested an action with a save as command at the end to programatically save it to the folder and that works.

Don't know what changed this past week... but something is not right?

Try using menu File>Scripts>Image Processor... include you Action in the dialog settings. Script have better File saving capabilities then Actions and Photoshop Batch feature.  There is even a more flexible free Photoshop Plug-in that can download and install. "Image Processor Pro..." Once you install it you can use in from Bridge menu tools>Photoshop>Image processor Pro and in Photoshop menu File>Automate>Image Processor Pro.

Thanks JJMack perfect solution and work around.

Funny enough... I have Dr Browns Image Processor Pro already but never used it.
Installed it and processed my folder of images with the action correctly. 🙂

Hopefully I will get a call back from the secondary support team at PS and see if they can figure out why the Batch Process funcationality isn't working properly. Or what changed.

I did have a first line support call about this and they couldn't figure it out. The installed the latest version of PS as well and it too failed to save images properly.

The answer will depend on the action steps and the batch settings.

I'm bringing this up again because I just about went insane having the same thing happening to me here in 2023.  Last time I used batch, I think it just automatically saved.  Now when I include a save as step in the action, it pops up with the Save As window for each file.  I thought the point of Automate -> Batch was to save files automatically after they had been processed... maybe I'm wrong or my memory deceives me.  ... Image Processor got the job done automatically although I could only do JPG not PNG lol ;(
