PS CC will not copy but cuts item

Hi,

I am not sure what is wrong. I select an object on the picture and copy it.  For some reason, it does not copy it but cuts it leaving a blank area. Any idea what I am doing wrong!?!?

How exactly are you making your selection and how are you making your copy?
