PSD image File size is up to 4 times the size of the image size

A large number of my images after being processed in both PS 26.11.0 or 27.1 were about 100 to 160mb.. After saving them, the  PSD file increased to 3 to almost 5 times.  A 160mb image in Image Size grew to 665mb in the Finder after saving it.  Adobe support verified the issue. We found this does not happen on all images but enough that my hard drive filled up rapidly with hundreds of images over 300mb.  Adobe had no solution, but suggested I report this to this community.  She will also be reporting it, but the case was closed. stating that a future update would be the remedy.  I am using a Mac Mini, and this issue occurred on images with the new Tahoe OS 26.1  and the previous  OS Sequoia 15.

Is the bit depth and colour mode the same as previously used?
