Hey all, I'm dealing with an ongoing quality loss issue I'm hoping there's an easy fix to.
Ever since a couple weeks ago any images that I rasterize and scale down (with ctrl + t) loses a lot more quality than it used to. As you can see in the examples below, it makes the edges of the text very rough, and does the same for images. What can I do to make that no longer the case?
Thanks

Hi, Check this video guide. Do your image same like the method shown in the video then your issue will be solve.
Thanks.

Hey Muqqarib, unfortunately the video didn't help in this scenario as I'm not looking to scale the image back up. When I scaled down rasterized images in the past, the quality was not nearly as low as it is now. It's almost as if I accidentally changed a setting in PS without knowing it. Below is another example of an image I had to rasterize (in order to delete the black fill it originally had) and scale down, and the quality of it is very poor compared to it would've been prior to the issue.

Text in Photoshop is Vector Based, so its totally scalable up and down. You may want to check the settings for your text. for example, is it set to SMOOTH, Crisp, strong, etc. But as long as it is NOT rasterized, it should look PERFECT!
Hope that helps!

Hey Mark, unfortunately I've already tried that and it didn't fix the issue. Also this is something that happens with images, not just text. Still can't seem to find a fix.

Hello,
Your text doesnt look so bad in the images you sent. One of them looks like maybe Anti-Alias was set to none. But if they are all set to smooth or crisp they should like great!
Images however are a different story. Images are BITMAP based, made of up pixels... so when you reduce an image it loses those pixels, so it can scale down... but you can't SCALE UP --- you can, but you will lose quality. If you want to scale them up and down and keep the quality you can convert them into a smart object so it retains all of the pixel information (but still won't scale well above its original size.
Images if using the Text tool are VECTOR based, they are made up of a mathematical equation.
Hope that helps!
Thanks!

I am having the exact same issue. I saw something that suggests making everything a smart object, but that seems a bit much. definitely a new problem with photoshop cc 2019
