Black Home Screen / New Document Window
If you experience a black Home screen or a blank new document window in Photoshop, try the steps mentioned below to try and fix the issue.
❶ Quit Photoshop
Ensure that you have saved any file you are working on and then quit Photoshop.
❷ Navigate and rename the UXP folder
Navigate to the below mentioned folder and rename the UXP folder to UXP.old
- Windows : C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP
- Mac: Macintosh HD/Library/Application support/Adobe UXP
❸ Watch the video
NOTE: If you don't use the Home Screen or the new New document dialog, you can disable them:
- Go to the Edit menu (on Windows)/Photoshop Menu (on Mac)
- Then navigate to Preferences, then General
- Enable the option to Use Legacy New Document dialog and deslect the option for Auto-show the Home Screen.
- Once you've made the changes, relaunch Photoshop.
