Expected behavior: "Remove Distractions (people)" replaces parts of the images that contain people with parts that do not contain people
Observed behavior: new synthetic people are inserted in the marked areas
I have a photo of my wife with a lot of people in the background. When I use "Remove Distractions" to find and remove the people, it nicely marks all people, but it then replaces the large group with new synthetic people. Yes, there are less of them then before, but deformed and not removed.

Hey, @VeneficusFerox. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.
Distraction Removal has three modes you can use, and it can change the results you can get.
What modes have you tried? Also, the People masks are editable. You can refine the selections to include any additional edges, shadows, and left-over areas for the people, which should give you better results.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!

@VeneficusFerox – Is there enough background available for the content-aware or generative AI algorithm to use to replace the people?
