Want to be able to use an Action or a Script to save imagery (particularly .PNG w/Alpha) to a folder I predetermine but to title each file independently.
I'm a rookie on Actions and Scripts, but I'll try anything. Do a LOT of manual saving and "Save A Copy", and it's incredibly time-consuming to have to do this manually every time. Working in Windows environment.
Thanks so much!
Create new document, start recording, save as png without changing default name, stop recording.

This was the fastest solution. Ther's much more I wat to be able to do with this 'save' action, but right now, it's helping a lot. Thanks!

I tried this with no joy.. bare in mind my source files i am opening are .TIFF so the SaveAs window does not even list PNG in the filetypes.. Any ideas? (i dont want the word _copy to appear in my output, just the same as source).
Thanks.

@nintenjo - Have you tried to use Save a Copy? Do you have Legacy Save As enabled in your file handling preferences? Are the TIFF files CMYK? What's their bit depth, 8 or 16?

Can PNG files have saved Alpha Channels? On my Windows 10 PC I can not check save Alpha channels using " Save As" saving a png file the check box is grayed out and when I open the saved PNG there are no Alpha channels. In Photoshop Scripting Save AS png has no option to save Alpha channels. You need to save a Layerd file like ]PSD, PSB, Tiff.
A PNG File layer can contain transparent area. You can load the layer transparency as a selection like it had an alpha channel layer mask.

I mis-typed with "Alpha" - my concentration was just on a simple way to save .PNG files and be able to tilte them uniquely every time. I have a solution. Thanks.

Download, install and checkout the free Plug-in "Image Processor Pro..." Batch you png with it. You can Incliude an action to add your titling to the png. If you want the retrieve your title from meta data the Action would need to use a script to retrieve the metadat and create the text title layer in the PNG document.

Do you mean with transparency? In Photoshop there is a checkbox for transparency, it does not directly come from an alpha channel being present in the file.
