"Upscale images...using partner AI models from Topaz Labs in Photoshop"

Just received an interesting Photoshop marketing email from Adobe (which BTW is unnecessary because I already subscribe) that included the capture below.  I already pay for Topaz (I'm a fan) so I have to wonder what exactly this means.  What exactly is included?  Can I stop paying Topaz for features now included in PS?

Some Topaz models are now available in some Photoshop generative AI features, such as in the new commands Image > Generative Upscale, Filter > AI Denoise, and Filter > AI Sharpen, shown below. I haven’t used the standalone version of Topaz, but my understanding is that what Photoshop includes is a subset, not everything. Which might change over time.

As far as whether you can stop paying for Topaz, you should look over what’s included in Photoshop and see if there’s enough of what you like about Topaz. And also pay attention to the number of Adobe generative credits that a Topaz generation consumes, compared to Adobe Firefly or other partner models.

Some will decide they have a Creative Cloud plan that has the number of monthly generative credits they need, and that Photoshop has enough of the Topaz features they need, and they’ll stop paying for Topaz.

Others will decide that it’s better to stay on a more affordable Creative Cloud plan and continue paying for Topaz instead, because they want to use more of Topaz than is in Photoshop.

Thanks for that table...very informative.  One factor to consider is when one sends a raw image to Topaz Photo (formerly Photo AI) which is the optimal way to do it, Topaz returns a raw image (dng).  Images sent to PS are typically in a tiff file (at least I haven't figured out how to send a raw file to PS) and many of the advantages of a raw file are lost.

Ross, I paid for Topaz Photo Ai something lime 18 months ago.  I was extremely impressed with its upscale and denoise functions, and it's other functions were none too shabby either.  At the end of the first year I was invited to pay for a further year of updates.  At that time I could not see improvements that warranted the cost of that renewal, so I chose not to do so.  My thinking was that as a worst case I could renew at a time when updates were significantly better, and get a full year of updates from that time.  In a better case, I thought that Photoshop might catch up with Topaz natively making it redundant.   I was not expecting the Topaz Models to be included as partner models, but now that they have been, there is absolutely no need to be giving Topaz Labs your dollars.

Much the same thing happened with Gemini 2.5 Nano Banana.  I was definitely going to pay for a Nano Banana monthly subscription, but could see how quickly things were moving and held off. Now we have the best of all worlds regards that functionality.
