reinstalling photoshop, keep the settings and preffs

Because bridge borked, i have to reinstall photoshop

When you uninstall it asks if you want to keep the settings and preffs
When you reinstall it asks if you want to import old settings.

My prior experience is that if you tick yes it will import the settings from the 2024 install NOT the most recent. If you tick no presumably it will import a clean slate.
how do I get it to install using the 2025 settings and prefs that it left behind

Just check to keep settings when uninstalling.

Don't do anything when reinstalling, don't import.

Preferences are stored separately in your user account, not with the program files. Uninstalling the application will not remove preferences, unless you check the box to remove it.
