Remove Background problem

Hello everyone,

I am the coach of a soccer team. We took photos at the start of the season - I used the “AI” option to remove the background from some of the posters, for example. This always worked perfectly - now, after reinstallation, unfortunately no longer.

I've attached a picture of what it looks like before and what PS cuts out.

I also think the green areas are clearly identifiable and, as I said, it has always worked smoothly with exactly these images. Can anyone help me here?

Using the Remove Background Quick Action in the Properties panel (Window > Properties) on the unlocked layer, this is what I got in Photoshop 25.11.0:

I am using exactly this (on the quick Panel) and getting another result - In this pictur it is removing everything:

Hmm... I get the same result as I previously got when I use Remove background from the Contextual Task Bar. 

You might try restarting Photoshop and possibly resetting your preferences:

I resetted my preferences (even if ps was installed a few hours before). Unfortunaly the "remove background" is still not working. I also restarted photoshop and the pc. Its totally strang.

Thank you very much! That helps for a quick resolve. But I really want the function delete background in PS to work again.

I'm not seeing any reports of known issues with removing the background.

You might check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements:

Because you noticed Remove Background not working after a new install of Photoshop, it sounds like it could be an installation issue. Try uninstalling Photoshop and then reinstalling it.

If the background removal still doesn't work, then you might try using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleander Tool and then reinstalling:

I will try that tommorow, thank you very much. Its kind of akward that it doens´t work in PS or in PS Beta. Im so confused...

Honestly, I cannot believe it's 2025 and Adobe Photoshop still struggles to remove a background. Any basic editor can do this now, so why does Photoshop struggle with the most basic task? All I need is to remove a white background from a simple logo (the logo is blue, the background is white), this is really not a complicated thing. I'm having to resort to Remove.bg just to do this, even though I have supposedly one of the most powerful photo/graphics editors at my disposal. It's honestly ridiculous, and I'm giving up on Adobe tools as they all seem to be falling miles behind the competition.

And I should add... yes, I appreciate the technology and programming that goes into this. But I'm not referring to a complex background removal here, it's just a logo on a white background. As I mentioned, there are drag and drop services that have been around for several years now with this functionality, yet Photoshop still fails.

Adobe adds all of this AI nonsense to their software but doesn't even fix the functionality that people really need and use it for. Same goes for Premiere Pro, its a buggy mess. Most free downloadable video editor apps (Capcut, Lightcut) work better these days, and arguably offer better functionality.

Adobe... what are you doing?!

Sounds simple, assuming that there is good contrast between the logo and white background.

It would help to have a sample of the image in question.

Select Subject used machine learning and was trained on many backgrounds, including white. I have seen it do a decent job many times on white backgrounds, with better results when set to use Cloud processing rather than Local processing.

That being said, there are other ways to remove white, including blend if sliders or more complicated methods for white or black that can be automated into an action:
