Hi Guys,
I am hoping that someone here would be kind enough to provide some guidance in restoring this photo of my girlfriend. It is her Sr. Portrait and my favorite picture of her. It was damaged when her Mother's basement was flooded. I have been able to do some very basic touchups, but I am not very skilled with PS and my success has been limited. I am not having much success in restoring the area on the right and at the bottom of the photo. I would be grateful for any assistance you can provide.
Thanks
This is about 90 minutes work. You could go on forever, but I have to be out in a while.
Nothing is cropped out. Left arm fixed using sample colour with fully soft brush set to 10% and building up tone. changing colour to give it depth. Texture added to new skin with Camera RAW > Effects > Grain. Definitely make that layer a Smart object because I haad to tweak the grain value several times. ...Used the original to brighten and increase contrast to make it easier to select the area behind her right arm.
Made the selection and used a layer mask to pop a hole through that area.
Copied straw texture from bottom right corner and transformed it behind that hole. Note: never clone into the same layer. Always make a hole and place fill behind that hole. Makes it more flexible and you can move and reshape the fill beneath that hole.
Ctrl click the mask to load as selection, and stroked the se
...Sorry about the flare. I knew it was OTT but like I said, sometimes we can't help ourselves.

Si te equivoca vas a Edición y deshaces, y vuelves a seguir. Precisamente porque puedes deshacer puedes intentarlo de prueba varias veces antes de decidirte a hacer el clonado en serio. Prefiero que lo aprendas porque es muy fácil a hacértelo yo. Además la satisfación será mayor.

Thank you for your assistance. I have tried several differnt methods without success. One of the reasons that I am having difficulty is because I am disabled and have dexterity issues that make it very difficult to do things with require a high degree of fine motor control.

You have lost to gold bracelet and painted ove her right elbow with black. The skin tones are now too cold and unsaturated. Her left elbow's ouutline is now blurred and a big chunck of her right arm has been cropped out.
To be fair, it will take a lot of work to fix this properly, and even getting it half way would take some time. I'll have spend some time on it — because I can't help myself — and upload something later today my time (NZ +12)

Thank you Sir, but you are obviously more skilled with PS than I am. My skills with PS are very basic. Yes her arm was in a very poor state in the photo. My attempts to restore it only made it look worse. I'm a software enginner and am better suited for programming and designing databases. This is my favorite picture of her and I wanted to see if it could be saved. Thank you for your efforts. I will be reprinting it as a 13x19 using my wide format printer

Have you checked the Photo Restoration Neural Filter as a starting point?

Pues no. ¿Sería mejor?

Unfortunately not, I'm using 2019 and the Neural Filters are not available. I would love to check this out. I'm somewhat picky about my software installs. When I have a family of programs like Adobe I prefer to leep the versions consistant. Upgrading one would mean upgrading all. When this happens I prfer to do a from scratch reload of all my software. This is a 3 or 4 day effort in my case and not something I enjoy doing.

The forum is hiding some of the image, so crop to expand to see the whole thing.

I did think about adding the engagement ring, but that needs to be right. You can do that yourself, or take a close up picture from the right angle, upload it and one of us/me will add it.

Not to worry about the ring. She will be thrilled by your efforts. Thank you again

Hi guys,
I'm trying to finish restoring this image and I am trying to figure out the best way to restore the blue area between her arm and near her face. My efforts are failing miserably. There aren't any unaffected ares nearby for me to work with. Any suggestions you can offer are appreciated.

Creo, si no me equivoco, que el experto Trevor Dennis te hizo una trabajo espléndido.
De todas formas el camino podría ser: Imagen/Ajustes/igualar color. Tomas como origen el color azul visible y como destino el área decolorada.

OK thank you. I will give that a try.

Sir
I'm not seeing how your suggestion will address the issue. I have gone to the option you suggested and it does not appear to allow me to select any specific areas of the photo. Please remember I am using PS 2019.

Hi @Shane32497352rwsq everything that Trevor posted (in the accepted answer) and @josantgomez are available in Photoshop CC 2019. What has changed since you received the answer from Trevor?
Are you trying to do this yourself? If so, as Trevor stated it takes time to produce the results he did but also it takes skill that comes from practicing. You state that you have basic skills. That just means you need to take time and practice to learn the techniques and controlled skills needed to produce the same results.
No automated feature will replace hands on technical skills as @Trevor.Dennis has shown.

Thank you for pointing me im the right direction. I will see if I can locate this tutorial in English. The translation is somewhat rough and I don't speak Spanish fluently. I can speak it in a very general sense. Very basic.
