Rotate layer

Ello everyone!
I have a document with a layer and I need to rotate it in an angle of 30 degrees, I try as a Location point, a color sampler or even a simple path point. A script with both situations would be interesting. Would it be feasible with scripting? Thanks.

Yes a script can set the rotation point to  color samplers points you first manually set via Photoshop UI. Photoshop cc supports up to 10 color sampler points.  A script can duplicate a layer and also rotate the duplicate layer any number of times up to Photoshop 8,000 layer limit.  Your example shows one color sampler and your shape layer duped once and rotated once 30 degrees.   A script can do that.  My script duplicate a layer around points a full 360 degrees. You can use all sorts of points

I made an illustration. I wanted to do this automatically, with a script, rotating the layer 30 degrees around a point. eg a a color sampler or a patch point.

The layer  will be duped till there are 12 and each will be rotated 30 degrees about your sample point. Like a 12 hour clock.

hi my friend. Thanks for support. This content can be a key point for what I need, I just have to figure out a way to rotate around a point x y.

You are correct, the script in that link rotates around the fixed bottom-centre point of the source layer... In the following example, there is pixel content to the centre of the canvas that forms the rotation point. As the "image content" is black and the "helper pixel content" used for setting the rotation point is white, it is easy enough to remove the white using layer option blend-if sliders. This could have been a single pixel rather than a stem/stalk which was just used to clearly visualise the build process.

Screen Shot 2020-03-08 at 14.31.51.png

You would enter 12 as the number into the script (360 / 12 = 30°).

The script in the tutorial uses the following rotation point:

// Rotate new layer
newStem.rotate(angle * i, AnchorPosition.BOTTOMCENTER);

There are 9 rotation points offered in the standard DOM code.

I believe that you can select any arbitrary rotation point using Action Manager code recorded by the script listener plugin.

So it may be possible to pass the co-ordinates of a colour sampler as a variable to rotation code generated by script listener.

Stephen_A_Marsh and JJMack , thanks for the help! Based on the sensational script of  JJMack. I managed to collect a few lines of code and adapt only to paths, but unfortunately I did not have the same success for color sampler. For me this is already 50% solved, with patches and color sampler it would be a huge wonder. Thank you for your support.

Color sampler is case 11.  My script can process Photoshop limit of 10 color sampler.

var colorSamplerRef = app.activeDocument.colorSamplers[s];

rotateAroundPosition(angle * i,colorSamplerRef.position[0].value,colorSamplerRef.position[1].value);

				case 11 : for (var s=0,len=app.activeDocument.colorSamplers.length;s<len;s++) {
							if (s!=0) {
								// Duplicate original layer and save it to the variable
								var newStem = originalStem.duplicate();
								}
							newStem.name = originalStem.name + " " + (i+1) + " p" + (s+1) ;
							app.activeDocument.activeLayer = newStem;
							var colorSamplerRef = app.activeDocument.colorSamplers[s];
							//alert("angle=" + (angle * i) +  " ,x=" + colorSamplerRef.position[0].value + " ,y=" + colorSamplerRef.position[1].value);
							rotateAroundPosition(angle * i,colorSamplerRef.position[0].value,colorSamplerRef.position[1].value);
							newStem.move(stemsGroup, ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND);
		               		};
							break;

Here  I set 4 sample points and rotated the layer so there were 4 layer around each point. So 3 duped time 4 = 12 duped layers each rotated 90 degrees so the are 13 layers,  However 4 align with an other layer perfectly you only see what seems to be 9 layers the are actually 13.
