Can someone please tell me how I can round these edges. I have tried a few different ways but I think it is way easier then what I am doing. I am adding this to a shirt so I'd like it to have rounded edges.
1. If the layer is locked, trash the lock. Foreground Color: Black
2. Add a Layer Mask by clicking on the Mask symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel. The mask will be adjacent to the image.
3. Choose the Rounded Rectangle Tool. (It is nested with the tools above the Hand Tool}
4. In the Options bar choose Pixels and on the far right of the bar choose Radius It is adjustable. Start with 75 px.
5. Draw the rectangle. (Fig 2)
6. Choose Image > Adjustments > Invert (Fig 3)

Hi Kristin,
As you're looking to round the corners of this image, please have a look at this article and see if it helps: Edit rounded rectangles |
Or you can try this method:
After making the selection I pressed Ctrl+J to make a copy of the selected area of the original layer. for macOS the shortcut for Layer via Copy is Cmd+J

Sahil

Hi Kristin,
My method is similar to Norman’s. The only thing I would add is you might want to pull out ruler guides to assist with precision from the edges for when you draw the rectangle.

I chose Rounded Rectangle, but what is the Options Bar? I found Pixels somewhere, but no option to adjust corner radius.
I'm trying to adjust the radius of my corners.

Hi
This is the options bar and you'll find the radius option there

Dear Ged,
Thank you for your answer. My options bar does not have Radius.
I can't post a screen shot because every time I try to post an image, it says this image is not allowed. I've tried PNG, JPG, and I've tried reducing the size, and it still won't let me post a screenshot.
What exactly are you clicking on to make that radius option appear? When I select Pixels, mine has Mode, Opacity, Auto-Alias, but it doesn't say, Radius.
Please help.
Lesley

Hi
You started a new thread here, do you want me to continue with that thread, otherwise it's going to get a bit messy

Just a thought, maybe I'm using the wrong shape tool?
Because I noticed at the extreme left of your screenshot, it shows a rounded rectangle, where mine is an amoeba. Because I'm using custom shape tool, and then selecting a rounded rectangle. Because that's the only way I've ever been able to draw a rectangle. Some people say there's a rectangle tool but I've never been able to find it.
Please advise.
Lesley

I don't have that option in my tool bar. Maybe I deleted it by mistake? If so, how do I get it back?

OK I found the Rectangle Tool. It was hidden WAAAYYYY down at the bottom of my Available Tools which I only found by "Edit Toolbar." No wonder! From day one I just thought I didn't have a Rectangle Tool because I could never find it.
OK now when I created a new rectangle, it gave me the corner radius options like you showed me.
Thank you so much Ged!
