Save As stops working after a while?

I have Photoshop CC with no add-ons aside from the Topaz filters. When I first open the programme and begin working, Photoshop will Save/Save As/Open things no problem, but after a while, it just stops. It seems to be different to most posts I've seen on here where the dialog box flickers then disappears- it just doesn't appear at all. I don't think it's a resolution issue as it works fine at first. Any help would be appreciated!
