I have a huge issue with PS, i normally use LR but every now and then i select a photo and use "Open as layer" in PS. 99.999999% when i am done i press save. The photo will now open in LR.

But sometimes, like now ! the bloody photo just disapears from the face of earth. If i search for the photo in LR, nope, no photo by that name. Can someone please explain (if you know) why it does like this and if the photo is saved, where is it ? (18sex from trashing computer, camera, keyboard, mouse and god knows what that comes in my way, and i cant afford that so ...)

The file is just saved to disk from Photoshop. It appears in Lightroom because it's tracked by a background script that automatically imports it into the catalog. Both applications need to be open & running for this script to work.

But most crucially, you need to set "maximize PSD/PSB compatibility" to "Always" in PS preferences. Lightroom doesn't support and can't read layers, but this option embeds a flat composite in the file, so that Lightroom can read it.
