Save PS files to actual mac desktop, not CC

I subscribe to PS and have been trying to save my files to the actual mac desktop and NOT the creative cloud or some obscure place I cannot see.  While it appears that I have saved to the mac desktop, they are NOT there and I cannot find my files outside of the PS program.  I want my files saved as I please and where I want them to be saved.  What can I do?

Use Bridge to navigate your hard drive. I'm on a Mac, my desktop claims it saves to iCloud - I doubt it does because I'm out of space with the pathetic 5gb they give you. Sometimes when I save to the desktop it takes a while to show up - no idea why. The desktop folder you found - it's not a mysterious hidden folder, it is actually your desktop, just like your download folder is actually your downloads. Bridge will solve all of your problems...

Thank you for your response. I also found that I cannot save Word docs to desktop even after I took steps to restore my files from the iCloud to my desktop.

What format are you using to save? Is it PSD which can be saved anywhere or are you using the new cloud document format PSDC which saves to the cloud? If the latter try saving as PSD to whatever folder you choose

More complicated than that!  Thanks Dave.

"While it appears that I have saved to the mac desktop (...)"

...which is why I suspect he has the desktop set to iCloud. It has also been reported several times that files saved to iCloud desktop has simply disappeared. These are the only reports of disappearing files I have seen, that actually sound credible.

Thank you for your response.  I am worn out from this and not functionally optimally.  How do I choose NOT to save to icloud on my desktop?

I don't know, I'm Windows myself. I just know it's possible from other posts here (as it is on Windows too I think).

In the Photoshop menu, choose File > Save as. In the window that opens choose 'Save on your computer' .

If you have already chosen 'Don't show again'  this window will not open but the option will appear in the 'Save as' window.

Thank you for your response.  I have tried that --more than once--but that option is not available when I save.

Do you have the desktop in iCloud? That's Apple's iCloud, not Adobe's Creative Cloud.

I understand that's an option when you install the OS. I think it's also possible with Windows now. Why anyone would want that is beyond me, but I suppose it's something you can easily overlook during the install, and just click "continue".

Thank you for your response.  I just finished using Finder>File>Desktop and found a folder--which was never on my actual desktop.  It was away named "Desktop".  The missing files were in it; so, it remains, a mystery as to where that folder was hidden.  I didn't notice.  I dragged it onto my actual desktop.  None of my other programs do this, just PS.  When I choose "save as ..." to desktop, PS puts the files away in this previously hidden folder.  I want them saved one-by-one to my actual desktop, not a mysterious hidden folder, so that I can organize them as I see fit.  I didn't choose or want any PS default.  The whereabouts of this desktop file eluded me for days, but finally found it.  I do not want to migrate the icloud every time I use my computer; so, I am looking for a way to save to my actual desktop w/o this agonizing frustration.
