Select and Mask creating masked dots along edges

New Here ,
May 14, 2018 May 14, 2018

Images have been manually selected using the pen tool and a selection made from that. I open Select and Mask to use the feather brush on hair, when I save the selection, I get masked dots all along the edges of my selection. Argh! I get this result even when everything is set to zero in the Select and Mask tool. I am not using Edge Detection and this is in areas that I have not used the feather brush. Example attached.

If this has already been answered, I apologize. I did my best to search, but I myself and not sure how to describe this.

Weird. What's the document type? (e.g., JPEG, RAW, PNG)

You can get around this (until you can figure out what's going wrong) by switching the mask to black and white (shortcut key: K), switching to the Brush Tool and using subtraction on the dots.

Super weird. They are RAW files that I have edited in Lightroom and exported as PSD files.

I have been using the selection to create a mask on that layer afterward, so I was just painting them back in (same concept, just different tool), but they're all around the edges. It just took time I didn't want to spend, so I thought I'd go in search of a fix for future images.

What version of Photoshop are you using? I seem to remember something similar in an early version of Select and Mask but I've not seen it in recent versions.

I use Creative Cloud and it’s all up to date. I dont need to download new versions of that, do I? Ive only been using the cloud version for a year, so maybe I’ve missed a step somewhere along the way?

My version is a million characters long and doesn't look anything like yours. 2017.1.1 20170425.r.252 2017/04/25:23:00:00 CL 1113967  x64

I did check for updates a month or so ago because every time it tries to connect to "Libraries", it just spins and spins and won't connect. I was hoping to fix that with an update, but it told me it was all up to date. I just checked it this morning and it did download something, so I'll test it in a bit.
