Setting up background to print on brown / Kraft paper

As you'll tell from this question, I'm a complete novice! I'm looking to design and print wedding invites on brown / Kraft paper. How should I set up my background colour - should it just be white or does it need to be transparent?

Are you hoping to print onto kraft paper? If so, you'll have problems. You can only print white with screen printing and blocking. I believe there are some desktop printers available that can print white but they are expensive.

You could scan some kraft paper and use that as a digital background (or download a background such as: https://www.shutterstock.com/search/kraft+paper+background ) and have the lettering "white out" of the "kraft" background.

Thanks Derek. I am looking to print directly on to kraft paper but with black ink. Your reply confirms above that a white background is okay for this piece - I really just wanted to sense check that a white background wouldnt print white onto the Kraft paper.

No doubt you'll be doing some test printing. I think you'll find printing black on Kraft, or similar, will look rather gloomy for a wedding invitation!
