Shortcut or trick to copy separate objects on 1 transparent layer onto multiple layers?

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is an easier way / shortcut / command to copy multiple separate objects that are on 1 transparent layer onto separate layers besides selecting each separately with the lasso tool and copying and pasting each on to it's own new layer individually? I often paint separate elements on a page, scan it and then need to separate the objects onto their own layers so I can import into Illustrator and continue to work digitally.

Lasso Select an object in the layer cut paste, re-target layer select next object in layer cut paste,  ... till there is one object left in the layer.

Layer > New > Layer Via Cut (cmd-shift-J) should be faster than copy/pasting.

That would be faster and preserve the object location  where copy paste centered the object in the new pasted layer.  In the end you could target all object layers and center like copy paste if that is how you want the object layers aligned.

I tried that script it seems to create paths  for the objects on a layer but then fails on my machine. After the loads transparency and make paths from the selection the path  info collection fails  "thePath.subPathItems.pathPoints" seems  not to be defined

I wanted to post amended code but this Forum won’t let me post the code … because a certain four letter combination apparently is not allowed on this community.
