Slow down the canvas panning speed while zoomed?

Something that's driven me nuts for years, but never thought to ask if there's a way to adjust this:

Made a video so it's easier to understand what I'm talking about. TLDR how do you slow down canvas panning while zoomed in?

Hi @TorQueMoD2, thanks for posting the video showing the zooming issue. If you check or uncheck “Animated Zoom” in Preferences on the Tools tab, does it make any difference?

I'm not sure of a way to change that speed, but how I deal with it is to hold the Spacebar as I drag (which uses the Hand tool) so I can be specific about where and how far I go.

This will not stop the process of what you're doing, so you can do this even while using the Polygon Lasso tool, etc.

That's actually a fantastic tip, to pan with spacebar instead of scrolling by the edge. Thanks for that!

Thanks for the suggestion JEL, but that setting is just controlling a LERP from your current zoom level to the next zoom level so that it looks smooth when you're zooming. Turning it off just makes it jump to the next zoom level when you click the magnifying glass.

Okay, that's good to know @TorQueMoD2. I wasn't able to reproduce your issue of the zoom speeding off on the edges myself using Windows 10, Photoshop 24.2.0 Release. It's really smooth and slow for me even when zoomed in dramatically, but I'm glad to hear spacebar panning is working for you. Thanks for coming back to let us know.
