Something For The Weekend - Part 101 - The final cut.

Hi,

It is quite common in early art classes to have pupils take an every day object and turn it into something else. So I thought, "what's good for them is good for us".

Here is a pair of scissors - what will you make with them? I've made it easier this week by putting them on transparency so you don't even need to cut them out.

The “rules”:

  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. It also would be great to see all those who have taken part in the previous challenges come and take part in this one.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

To download the image below at 3000 x 2000 pixels with an embedded ICC colour profile (sRGB), hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image – please use the Blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun.

Dave

Although it appears calm now, the word on the street is that the rumble is about to begin.

Very clever Jane. Shall we use that game to decide tomorrows starter image?

Great idea, Dave. Shall we select a time and then post our responses simultaneously? 😊

Was going to try a scissor hands haircut. I only got up to a scissor hand.

Maybe will have another go tomorrow.

Goodness.  Some very good uploads this week.  Great ideas exceptionally realised.  I especially like the added shading on the scissors in some of the images, and Rafel's perspective change.  Rafel, I am thinking you could have added some hightlights to some of the upper edges to give a better 3D look, but all of the uploads are excellent this week.

Trevor, thank you for the kind words and for the suggestion. Yes, some highlights would help, I just didn't have any more time to spend on this one.

Dave,

Their name comes from their ground nesting between/beside upturned boats; for obvious reasons they prefer old herring boats.

When she tucks her head, she will be hard to discern from the boat/bird on either side.

Hi,

Just a reminder that everyone is welcome to take part in this. You don't even need to use Photoshop, although of course many do 🙂

That would make a good poster Graham and I like the metallic look to the text and the top lighting on the scissors.

But who pinched the 'r' in barber? 🙂
